"Marvin Hinten has explained Eustace's efforts this way: 'Despite several sheddings of skin... he is unable to change himself, hereby making one of Lewis's favorite theological points from his adult nonfiction, that Christianity is not simply a matter of self-improvement but of becoming something else entirely." - Devin Brown in Inside The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
This makes me jump with excitement. It's what I've been thinking about the most - if not most, than the most profoundly, or with the most awe and joy - lately.
I discovered it by accident. Something tripped the wire and let a whole load of almost-truths come crumbling down. My thinking took on a whole new focus when I realized this.
God's single most purpose for me (and this world) is for me to be like him.
Be. like. him.
He wants me to have what he has. Jesus wants me to be close to his father. He wants my company. He wants my joy to light up his existence.
