I don't just like them, like mangos and trampolines.
I don't just love them, like trees and hugging on my Bugs.
I breathe them like air.
Do letters have colors to you? Because they do to me. A is red, L is a lovely black, S is definitely yellow. E is green, G a darker green, and N a nutty brown. X is orange or burgundy (I don't use it enough to know). P is a horrible pink. C is dark green. O is white. I think because of the white space inside the circle. It's kind of like a clear letter. B is orange. D is dark brown.
Weird huh?
My friend and I once had an argument about which letters are which colors. :)
So words have colors too - combinations of colors. Spaghetti starts yellow and turns pink/red, then gets a dash of green, like a flake of parsley on top, gets a dash of light orange brown like horse's hide, then another flake of green, a more spicy green this time, before the dusk blue of two tts and the black-blue fleck of an i.
Yeah.
Then there are also the shapes of letters.
Lily is one of my favorite words, because it has all long letters. I'm not as big a fan of letters like o e d b g p. Inclusive letters. I like letters that stretch themselves out to be seen, like L and I and R and T. F y c m n are nice, too. So... potatoe, potentate, and penelope are not exactly favorite words.
I have a favorite word.
This is a very recent discovery. I've seen interviews where they ask celebrities what their favorite word is. Since then, I've always wondered what my favorite word is....
And I found it this week...
And here it is...
Incandescent.
It's dusky blues with a scintillating blend of yellow and lime green with a dash of apple red makes it seem like a sunset. Delicious.
Plus, it means beautiful - more than beautiful - like a dancing on clouds or candles and night breezes kind of lovely. And it's a feeling. If I felt incandescent, I'd feel the best I could feel.
I also make up words.
Unsnatchable was one I made up in a recent post. I kind of like it and it's coming to mind these days. Canolopy is another one - that one means something like a beautiful chaos involving lots of color. I can't think of any more right now, but there have been others. Redunkulous is something my brother says. I'm not sure who made it up, but it's part of my vocabulary, too. It means ridiculous... only... more ridiculous.
And Names...
I breathed that word with a sigh.
I love names.
I'm good at remembering names because they say a lot to me. I love fascinating juxtapositions of names on personalities and faces. Together: names + personalities + face = a person. Not just their "inner" and "outer." The person is not complete without their NAME.
Ah, I love names.
The sound. The syllables. The strange colors next to each other. The long L by the short o or q. The familiar ones that roll off your tongue without thought. The foreign ones I wouldn't think of as names.
Those words belong to the most precious piece of creation.
Humans.
I debated before I wrote humans. I like that word better than people, because humans has a nutty brown color to start off and ends with a flash of red and yellow. But people has that horrible letter p - not once, but twice! - which nasty-pinks the whole word up, plus it has lots of round letters like e and o. I feel my poor L is defiled within it.
OH my.
I just listened to myself. I think it's better that I don't.
I also considered the word us, but u is a pale cream I don't much like without the right colors around it, and s is yellow and reminds me of snakes, because it's shaped like one. Snakes are my worst physical fear (besides falling off a skyscraper) so that letter does not have great connotations.
Many of my favorite words start with L: Lily, Lillian, Lochflower (I find the combination of the o and c fascinating).
You know... *shakes head*
I started this post because I was going to share some of my favorite song lyrics...
(OH that's another favorite word - lyrics. Love the ly at the beginning of the word instead of the end!)
OH my.
And THAT, my friends, is why Geekiness < Wordiness.
Arrivederci!
