"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." - C. S. Lewis
In this culture, the word "desire" is pretty tainted. Yet God gave us desires that lead us to him.
What do your desires tell you about what you were made for?
I love people's unique personalities, strange flowers - especially lilies, and apple cider beside a roaring fire on a dry hay bale. I love long grasses waving in the wind and hard, bright stars in a clear sky and candles that make a room feel like fall has moved in to stay. I love absorbing books and chats with my brothers and traveling to new countries. I love seeing a ballet student "get" something. I love to dance and I love, love, love to write. And more than almost anything else, I love and desire fellowship. That sense of being loved, accepted as I am, beautiful in my own skin, with my own talents and quirks and flaws. I love the feeling that someone else has my back - that I don't have to have it all together, because they'll watch out for me. I love feeling home. Feeling that I have a place to stay... Maybe a warm place between his paws...
In the end, all of our desires are really... desires for God....
I desire adventure. I desire goodness. I desire to behold the beautiful. I desire to be with my loved ones. I desire to be accepted by those around me. I desire friendship. I desire freedom. I desire to be at home.
